Bible Text: Matthew 25:1-13 |

Not So          January 24, 2016

Matthew 25:1-13 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
This is not referring to losing your salvation. This parable takes place in the middle of the week of tribulation. This is the last group to arrive in heaven before the wedding. These are Christians; they are called virgins and they had lamps. This happens at midnight. We can’t be asleep, we need to stand for Jesus and have doves eyes. Many Christians play the game of compromise today. We are exhorted to come.
Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
This refers to the Holy Spirit. It’s a free gift but you have to be thirsty for it. We not only need to be filled with the Spirit but be led of the Spirit. Admonition means to warn gently and to reprove. We need to be on fire for the coming of the Lord. It’s too late for the foolish virgins for the wedding celebration. They failed for lack of watching, they didn’t discern the times. The wise virgins have three names; they are called the 144,000 or the man child and the five wise virgins. They are sealed at the beginning of the tribulation. Slumber means to nod. God does not want us to be asleep right now. The flesh, the world, and the devil want your crown (rewards). We will have to say, “Not so”. We are upon the midnight hour right now. This is the most important time of our life right now. People are asleep to Paul’s message. But there is victory at midnight for you.
Psalms 30:5 . . . weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Psalms 6:6 . . . all the night . . . I water my couch with my tears.
Hebrews eleven shows us twenty worthies of faith. Their victories came by faith, not compromise.
Romans 5:3-5 . . . tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
We want the love of God. We need to be led of the Holy Spirit. We are weak and we need the strength of the Lord. The Holy Spirit gives us boldness, power, faith, joy, and love. He guides us into all truth. If you have never received the Holy Spirit, why wait? If you are not filled with the Holy Spirit you cannot be in the bride of Christ. When you are filled, you need to yield to the Holy Spirit. He will do magnificent works in your life.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me . . .
Witness means martyr. We are in a midnight hour now. Jesus is coming soon.
Are you able to say, “Not so!” when the devil tries to lie to you. Don’t compromise. Be wide awake looking for the coming of the Lord!
