Glory for Eternity February 3, 2019
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do itto obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
He is after our heart. All of these big events, like the super bowl are just a moment in time, all for a corruptible crown. We are after an incorruptible crown.
2 Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished mycourse, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
It’s by faith. Knowing Him, believing Him. Crown = “exalted rank of righteousness”. It’s righteousness by faith. Hold fast this crown. Let it be the keepsake of your life – the hope of glory crown. The Righteous Judge is judging us for rewards. Do you see what we are fighting for? The enemy would want you to be occupied with things here instead of the treasure over there.
Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time arenot worthy to be comparedwith the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Man’s glory is just for a moment but God’s glory is for eternity. Not only does God want us to see His glory, He wants us to be the glory.
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what isthe riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
At the super bowl they hope for glory, but we are the hope of glory.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him,that we may be also glorified together.
When you are an infant in Christ you are an heir of God, but now moreover joint-heirs with Christ. That means exalted to the same glory. He is searching for true worshippers – His wife.
Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
All of creation is groaning. God gives us types like the super bowl, which is a spectacle for a moment but this is forever. To them that believe.
Revelation 3:8-9 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. 9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
All the unbelievers are going to know He loves her; it’s important to Him. You’ve been blessed with all the spiritual blessings in heaven to have this.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
The victory is already won.
2 Corinthians 9:8 And Godisable to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things,may abound to every good work:
You have this working, all that power to overcome. At the super bowl it is a trophy (corruptible). Our prize is Him. Our reward is an exceeding, eternal weight of glory. It’s forever. It’s always by faith. The super bowl winners grow old and weak and die. But they that receive this – we will be like Him!
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Our standing will never be given to another. It’s going to be more and more the exceeding riches in His kindness. Pray when you watch big events like the super bowl you see it in another way. When men receive glory you smile and say, “Oh what I have coming with Jesus!” Men and women want power and riches, we have eternal riches. The Lord is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
