What the King Desires February 22, 2015
2 Samuel 23:14-16 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! 16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
David encourages us what the King wants most in our lives. True worshipers that worship God in spirit and truth; the ones that draw nigh to kiss; the humble heart that knows they are nothing and He is everything. The King desires from us, bring me the word, fellowship – merely a cold cup of water. Not great acts or feats. The Lord is looking for the word in our lives. Just be consistent. This is the good fight of faith. Abel was encouraged, “bring me the Lamb”. Fellowship and thankfulness that He gave us all things (Eph 1:3) – then bringing it back to Him. Go to the well.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Things we are going through here may not seem like much to others – but there is a far eternal weight of glory – the mother lode of riches in Christ. Ones might have thought the mighty men were crazy. These three men risked their lives. A reward is coming. Our labor is not in vain. We’re going for the better part. The mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. This is what the King desires. Be passionate and fully purposed to bring that water back to Him. This is something that only He sees, like the widow’s mite.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
These are the before ordained good works that we should walk in. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. God is not after the big things. He is after the less of the least, like Gideon. He’s not looking for a grand speech, just looking for us to say “Jesus”.
John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
People want something practical. Just be consistent in those little things. Love your spouse every day. Parent every day. The champions of life show up every day. What you do is unto the Lord. Paul didn’t come to preach a monumental sermon. He preached night and day.
Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
Mary was satisfied to be at the feet of Jesus. John loved the Lord’s simple breast and he was the disciple Jesus loved. Just a cold cup of water every day. Don’t be looking for your payday down here. You’re not home yet. He’s preparing a mansion for you.
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Let’s go out each day, right through that host and get that cold cup of water and fellowship with the King!
Thank you for taking a moment to view our web site. Living Waters Tabernacle has a wonderful heritage in Christ. As you might already know, Brother D.E. Hill started the church back in 1938. By God’s grace our congregation is committed to continuing his legacy in Christ, in that we follow Paul as he followed Christ (I Corinthians 11:1).
