Bible Text: II Timothy 1:5 |

Be a Testimony                     March 12, 2017

2 Timothy 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

In Acts 13 we read David was a testimony to his generation. We can be a testimony to others in our day, specifically to our families. Living the love of Jesus so others want to know the hope that lies within us. To stand and not waver in believing God. There are attacks but this is not the time to quit. Endure hardness as a good soldier. Be thankful for the truth. That light needs to continue on. Living the faithfulness of God. Jesus finished it! We are more than a conqueror through Christ. We are going to suffer with Him to rule and reign jointly together with Him. God meant it for your good. We do not realize the magnitude of the ministry in our homes. God has a plan. We need to be a testimony of the promises of God to our children. Not just in church, but at home. It’s about the word of God. His Word is in us, take it wherever we go. Be a testimony of truth in love. Paul’s gospel, a torch of fire to pass on because it is so wonderful and good. Sing a new song. Let Him change you from glory to glory. No parent is perfect but we can stand for Paul’s gospel in our home. The whole counsel of God.

Colossians 1:25  Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

The complete word of God.

Hebrews 11:40  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Without His wife it can’t be complete. The bride will descend from heaven with His glory. There is a better thing, it had to be offered to complete the gospel. Stand for the complete truth in our homes.

1 Kings 11:4  For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

1 Kings 11:6  And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

Solomon didn’t go fully after the Lord and didn’t get a full reward like David. David was the type of a full overcomer.

1 Kings 9:4-5  And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:  5.  Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

David made many mistakes, but it’s about the heart attitude toward the Word of the Lord. Solomon was good but his heart was not perfect. Sometimes only the rascals get it. David rightly divided the truth and his heart was perfect to God. We can have that same heart. No compromise in our homes. Man judges by the outward appearance but God looks on the heart.

I Samuel 16:7 . . . for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Those that looked at the heart of David were his mighty men. If they looked at his appearance they became defeated men. So are we going to look at anything but the heart of others? Stand as a mighty man. Know the word of God for you. Take what God’s given you. May the truth guide us into more love and forgiveness. Be the ones that take the torch. It’s not easy, but hold fast and pass it on. Stand and withstand!
