Walk in the Spirit April 19, 2015
Psalms 141:4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
David is asking the Lord to wake him up and get him away from this wicked stuff.
It’s either going to be God we seek after or mammon. When we allow ourselves to be around evil things they will influence our lives. Solomon entangled himself with things God did not want him to do. We are told to flee the very appearance of evil.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
God blesses His Son, His Word. When we walk in the light there is peace and harmony. When we compromise truth in our homes there will be sad results.
These evil ways are not only fleshly lusts (like the Corinthians) but religious lusts (like the Galatians). When we walk by faith our lives will be a sweet smelling incense to the Lord.
There is a stench on this world – get away from it.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
We have the Holy Spirit. Just walk in the Spirit, and don’t stop.
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
All things are lawful but all things are not beneficial.
Galatians 5:18-21 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest . . . they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
We are heirs of God. We are fighting for our inheritance.
Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
That’s who you are, it’s already been done – live this truth. We are Christ’s – walk in the Spirit.
1 Kings 8:56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
1 Kings 8:61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
Solomon knew this in his youth but got complacent toward the things of God.
What is our heart inclined to? Are you starting to get defiant towards saints, parents, to the word of God? If so, then your heart is not inclined to God. Godly men like David and Joshua made a choice to go with God, but ones around them didn’t like that choice. Just like now, the majority of Christians do not want to hear the word of God. We need to be satisfied with God’s choice. The Lord is either your first love or He’s not. Even in times when they didn’t feel like bending the knee they did any way. They had a tender spirit and kept going. Go unto Him without the camp.
King Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign. He was born in a godless kingdom to a bad father. Around him was total wickedness but he inclined his ear to the Lord. At the age of twenty he really made a move for God, he destroyed the idols. He walked in all the ways of his father David. That same manifold blessing is there for you. Live the blessing, keep moving on. Let the lies go before they take your life. Walk in the Spirit.
Thank you for taking a moment to view our web site. Living Waters Tabernacle has a wonderful heritage in Christ. As you might already know, Brother D.E. Hill started the church back in 1938. By God’s grace our congregation is committed to continuing his legacy in Christ, in that we follow Paul as he followed Christ (I Corinthians 11:1).
