Bible Text: James 1:23-24, II Corinthians 3:18 |

Changed by the Spirit                     May 7, 2017

James 1:23-24  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:  24.  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

Did you ever look at that man in the mirror and wish you were something different? We think we can make changes in our lives and what happens? Nothing. Man’s thinking will never fix a thing. God never tells us to look at the man in the mirror.

2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

We see Him and we are changed into the same image. I’m thankful He showed me that looking at me is hopeless but looking at Him I find every answer to life, and abound in the hope of God. His promises are not if but when. Changed from glory to glory. The manifestation of the sons of God. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring but I know what eternity will bring. Jesus will have a wife.

Man wants to look in that mirror but every change in our life is in Jesus. In His face we see glory. Glory = “divine perfection”. In the moment you believed, you died and now a new life lives in you. With His new life I can yield by hearing the word of God and learning of the power of that life that lives in me. Grow up, starting with the milk of the word but then move on to strong meat. All because of the grace of God. The word of God changes you.

Ephesians 4:13  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

All the changes for any good in your life will only come from the word of God. Only what’s done for Christ will last. The disciples could not behold what we see now because the veil was not rent in twain until He died and rose again.

Hebrews 6:19  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

Remember those great trials of faith when you were done and everyone discarded you and yet God came in and rose you up. Grow in that lowliness, He will increase. The desire for my life is His desire. The Holy Ghost ministers this bridal truth. We are lacking nothing. When you embrace that grace it will change you. The Holy Ghost brings the abounding hope. Pray and worship, give it over to God.

Romans 8:24-25  For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?  25.  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Faith assures you. Faith gives you all the evidence, substance and proof of what’s not seen. You see by faith. He wants you to know all truth. You don’t just read it, you must believe it. The key is patience. God said it and that’s that. His faithfulness delivers, exceeding abundantly. If I am His workmanship, why would I rely on what I can do? If my thoughts are not His thoughts why would I look to anything but the Word to light the path for me? We can live by faith. Believe His all-powerful word is for me. Learn to trust Him and lean on Him. It’s wonderful when a wife rests in her husband. We can be confident in His promises. Changed from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord. His love shed abroad in my heart. Oh what Christ can do in me when I know He is for me. We’re beginning to look a lot more like Jesus. Don’t be distracted, hear truth. Believe Him!
