Bible Text: John 16:24 |

What’s Mine is Yours                  May 14, 2017

John 16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

What are we asking the Lord for? Are we asking for things that our joy would be full? Go boldly to the throne of grace. We ask, we have requests. He loves it when we ask in accordance with the will of God.

Matthew 7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

John 14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Ask according to His purpose. If it’s not in His will, God’s not in it. We may still get it but anything apart from the will of God will only send leanness into my soul. We’ll wish we didn’t go after it. For example, Samson had to have Delilah and we know how that turned out.

James 4:3  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

That means you are asking for your fleshly desires and not for God’s desires. Pray, “Lord, give me your desires”. It has to be the grace of God. What are we asking God for? Ask for God’s desires, for His perfect and complete will. He gives us His mind. By grace believe. It’s a victory every time you believe God. That’s when you’ll find joy and happiness. What is full joy worth to you? It doesn’t matter what’s going on because you know it’s for your good. We are in the age of a bride for Jesus. We live in the time of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. We are in the time of those that will suffer together with Him. Taking the whole counsel of God. Those that do will reign jointly with Jesus. God help us to get our heart around that He is so faithful He even tells us what to ask for. Proverbs told us to ask for wisdom. Timothy tells us to ask for full knowledge. Have you ever asked the Lord for these things? Get passionate and ask what He wants for you. David wanted to know God’s heart. Ephesians tells us to ask for the love of Christ. Ask Him for these things. He that wills to know will know.

John 7:17  If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

He is the God of exceeding abundantly.

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom and God made him the wisest man that ever lived. Elisha asked for a double portion and God gave it to him. Hebrews tells us we have a better thing. Esther was an orphan and went to live with a relative. He sent her to where she would be instructed to what the king would want. When she stood before the king, he told her, “Ask for it all”. God gave you everything. Listen to Him. What is your request? The prodigal wasted time yet the father was there all the time. Go in there boldly, in thanksgiving. It’s all yours. There is one that is going to have it – the bride. The one that knows and is confident in His grace.

Revelation 19:7-8  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  8.  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

‘Granted’ means she asked. She sweetly believed so much she asked to wear the dress, to be clothed with His very glory. She asked believing and expecting, and she got it. He is faithful and true, and will withhold nothing that’s good for us. The moment is now – ask Him. Ask Him to wear the dress, ask Him, “I want to be Your glory”. He says, “What’s Mine is yours”.
