He Sees Our Tears   May 17, 2015
Genesis 32:22-28 And he (Jacob) rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok… 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Jacob was afraid and prayed to God but he also tried to appease Esau with a present of animals. He tried to do things in his own effort. We need to quit of our own efforts. Jabbok = "pouring out or emptying". His name changed from Jacob = "supplanter"- One who takes the place of another, to Israel = “the prince that prevails with God”. Prevail = “to gain the advantage”. Jacob wasn’t quicker or stronger. He did not prevail because of his ability. He prevailed because he wept and made supplication.
Hosea 12:5 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us; God’s not impressed with our strength, abilities or goodness. But He sees our weeping. The Lord wants us to give it up to Him; realize we need God. He brings us to a place we can’t handle, to a point maybe we weep. The Lord is touched by that. Lay a hold of what God’s offering us now – don’t put it off.
2 Kings 20:1-6 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. 2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, 3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: . . . 6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; At first Hezekiah proclaimed his goodness, but the Lord saw his tears. Weeping comes from our heart. The Lord encourages us to go on, don’t stop crying out to Him. He may keep us in it, but it’s for our good. David the sweet psalmist wrote of weeping.
Psalms 6:6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. We may think God is not hearing us but He collects our tears in a bottle. How precious they are to Him.
Psalms 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? Jesus was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He sees our heart and is touched by our tears.
John 11:35-36 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! Paul had a heart for the people. He gave everything so they’d know the truth. He loved like Jesus.
2 Corinthians 2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. Our sorrow isn’t forever, it shall be turned into joy! Psalms 30:5 … weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Go forth with the precious word of God. His word never returns void. If you have loved ones – don’t stop.
