The Spirit of Truth   June 7, 2015

John 14:16-17, 26 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The emphasis of why the Holy Ghost is sent – truth. We can get caught up in the sign and the feeling but remember to magnify the purpose of the Spirit of truth which is to dwell in us, to teach us all things, to know the depth of the love of the truth.
John 16:7, 12-14 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. These disciples had been with Jesus for 3½ years but they were not able to bear all truth without the infilling of the Holy Ghost. To know the mystery of Christ and His bride.
Ephesians 3:3-6 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; …5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Revelation means the veil was taken away. That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs = “joint heirs as husband and wife”. These were believers he is talking to. Quit wrestling with this truth, saying this is how I was raised, or this is what my church says. Hear the word of God!
Acts 19:2-6 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, Only believers can be filled. So without a doubt the infilling of the Holy Ghost is a separate experience from salvation, and the evidence is speaking with tongues.
Acts 10:44-46 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished…46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. They knew they were filled because they heard them speak with other tongues. It’s not the experience that is the end-all, the power is why we need to be filled. It’s to know all the love of the truth. Intimate knowledge.
Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Gushing love – step out in truth! He gave the Holy Ghost so Jesus could have a wife. The Old Testament is full of types. Abraham’s servant (a type of the Holy Ghost) was sent to get a wife for Isaac. The Holy Ghost is seeking the lover that worships Him in spirit and truth. Know all the love of Christ.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Jesus wants a wife that will share it all with Him in the midst of the throne. An equal partner, not a servant. The woman is the glory of the man. How does it all wrap up in Revelation? The Lamb’s wife. Only the Holy Ghost can make this real in a life. Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? Or did you stop at baptism? Are you continuing in it? How happy are you? 2 Timothy 1:6 . . . stir up the gift of God, which is in thee God has a plan for you, if you don’t stir up the gift you will miss it. Love Him!
