Bible Text: Romans 8:31-32 |

Do Not Spare Any Part    June 21, 2015

Romans 8:31-32 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
We don’t need to work or merit, He freely gave us all things. It’s yours – take it. You have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Freely grow up into all of it. God is love, and He loves so much that He spared not His own Son. He freely and fully gave His Son for us.
Think of the glory to God – the first begotten Son bringing many sons to glory.
Our expression of love to our kids is the same when we don’t spare any part of our lives, or our children’s lives, and instead give it all over to the prefect and complete will of God. No matter how much it hurts. The glory that shall be revealed in us is not worthy to be compared.
Genesis 22:1-3 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. 2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. 3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
Genesis 22:9-12 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Abraham did not spare Isaac. He gave him fully over to the will of God. He trusted God to keep his son. And this son grew up and hearkened to what his parents said. God has brought this same faith to us.
We sow to the word of God and we will reap, but there is sorrow if we do not.
David had a son he spared, he wavered in emotions and feelings for Absalom and allowed that to come between him and the will of God. Absalom’s defiance grew to where he wanted to overthrow his father. Absalom was slain and David wept and mourned to the point where Joab had to tell him how irrational he was being.
2 Samuel 19:4-6 But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son! 5 And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines; 6 In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.
We cannot compromise. We need to look to the word of God when we raise our children.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
There was a promise that could so easily be had by standing for the truth. Go fully after the Lord – for your home, your family. Don’t withhold a thing. There are tough choices being made in our homes. God allows the enemy to lie to us to try our faith. Believe the Lord – know His promises are yea and amen.
By the grace of God stand. Stand in the word of God.
Genesis 15:1 . . . I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
