Bible Text: Philippians 3:14... |

Philippians 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

You’ll never press unless you know the love of Christ. Paul brought the mystery of Christ and His bride.

Press = run swiftly, to catch, absolute goal; pursue in a hostile manner. To apprehend by any means, at all cost. The things the world calls tragedies are the gifts from our Bridegroom. Things that strip away me and bring more of Him. A first love heart pursues but also is a spirit of war to obtain it. The bride is a lover and a warrior. Paul’s gospel is sweet to the mouth but bitter to the stomach. It’s not hard to fall in love with Jesus when you find out how much He loves you. But the fight to win Him, so few endure. This is the rib cut. The rib portion has to be cut out and this is the war. Ephesians six speaks of the warfare of the believer.

2 Timothy 2:3  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

You have to be a lover and a fighter. When you see the divine grace of God, His plan, provision, purpose, and passion, you’ll have a force that can’t be stopped by ones that want to defeat us, even ourselves. We have the power of His might. Get in there and take it!  It’s not tomorrow, it’s now. That’s the force of grace that is never exhausted, the power of understanding it is yours. David knew it. He was God’s man, he had a heart after God’s own heart.

Psalms 18:34  He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

The Shulamite in the Song of Solomon was an overcomer. She first overcame self-doubt and then being high minded; the final test was the beatings of the watchmen – legalists. Truth in love changes you. Continue to walk through out all the land. There are giants so we best have a Sword. If you didn’t have trials you would have no need of God. Step into the word today, it endures forever. The word works like dynamite in them that believe. If you are to finish with a full joy, it must be the good fight of faith. The fight is to stay in Paul’s gospel. If you fight, you will be free. If you draw back and are fearful, you put yourself in bondage. The Captain of our salvation encourages us to fight. The battle has already been won.

2 Corinthians 8:8  I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

Paul’s gospel proves the sincerity of your love. You aren’t marrying a head alone, so love the head and the body. Love without dissimulation. There are a lot of ugly actors out there but we fight on. Don’t be drawn into that. The banner of love is over us. Allow grace to pour through freely. Speaking truth in love. The lovers are hostile for themselves and one another. We are needful for one another. By the grace of God let’s be that body that presses. Lovers and fighters.
