Bible Text: Romans 1:7 |

The Peace of Grace                           July 16, 2017

We began this series with truth because of grace, moved on to the testimony of the power of His grace. Today, the evidence of living the testimony of the power of grace is peace.

Romans 1:7  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul says ‘grace and peace’ fourteen times as he salutes saints. It has to be grace before there will ever be peace. Without grace there is no peace, and with grace there is all peace. We are His workmanship, it’s not works. All we can do is chase our proverbial tail. With grace comes glory. And when we lay hold of it, it’s glory to glory into His image. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1John 4:4). He will perform the good work, I am His (grace’s) workmanship. Grace makes it personal. He is grace, that’s why His word is the word of His grace (Acts 20:32). Nothing gives peace like the word of His grace. It gives encouragement and every instruction to live the peace of God. We need that comfort for peace in trials. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Wash your feet in the word of God continually. Paul said, “I did not make vain the grace of God given to me.”

Without the peace of knowing eternal security, I am always going to try to prove myself to my Father. He loves me just the way I am. My whole life is His mercy. Anything accomplished is only the grace of God. He withholds nothing good from my life. The peace of grace is knowing that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39). No matter how great the failure, His grace is sufficient. We need to know that for one another. Without the peace of grace for our brother, we will live delusional and tormented. But by grace we know…

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.

Paul asked the Galatians, “Who hath bewitched you?...Are you now made perfect by the flesh?” Bewitched means ‘evil has come over me’. When we don’t have the peace of grace we won’t realize what we can do. Like King Saul trying to spear David. Be optimistic that grace is going to restore my brother. Live God’s possibility.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Make the decision to go on with God and have the peace of grace. Quit wrestling, He knows what’s best for you. But without the word of His grace you will never settle down. Receive the peace of grace when God blesses a brother. Don’t be bitter or jealous. The peace of grace is right there for everything in our life now. Let it abound! I want to be that peace for Him, the double portion.

Song of Solomon 4:10  How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse!

I love my siblings but my wife gives me peace. The bride is New Jerusalem. Jerusalem = “double portion of peace”. Lord help me to take the grace to be that peace and rest for You.

Proverbs 31:11  The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
