Bible Text: I Thessalonians 5:18 |

Thankfulness             August 14, 2016

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
What is the will of God for my life? To thank Him in everything. There’s never been a time when it’s been more challenging to give God thanks. We have so much materially but there is great complaining. Coveting is a global plague. It’s just spiritual wickedness.
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
A gain that is super, exceedingly above. If you don’t have contentment, it’s because of pride.
Unthankfulness is wickedness (1Tim. 3:2).
Thankfulness is the evidence of great faith, victory, and overcoming in Christ. Caleb and Joshua were the only two who went into the Promised Land because they believed and were thankful. Do you believe God has divinely ordered your steps?
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
The height of spiritual thankfulness is living Paul’s gospel. The Father has given us all. Paul’s bridal message knows that everything about you is the perfection to win eternity’s best and there are no mistakes.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship,
Romans 8:31 If God be for us, who can be against us?
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 1:6… he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it
This thankfulness comes even when there is great loss.
Job 1:21… the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Greatly rejoice. Believe in the power of God!
1 Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Peter gives thanks for grief and hardship because through them faith is proved genuine.
We are privileged to suffer for His name’s sake.
When I run so well and then fail, thank the Lord for His great mercy. The times when your familiar friends want to keep you down, is when you know the power of Christ that much more, as it raises you up. There is not a greater testimony than brethren that have taken the grace of God and not allowed the enemy to keep them in guilt and shame and defeat.
Learn to thank God for who you are. I am wonderfully and fearfully made for Him. I am completely dependent on Him and He abundantly supplies. Do you want to be victorious? Thank Him, it will quicken the life of Christ in you. Live the power of His grace. Quit being unthankful = that’s unbelief. Praise and thankfulness is the wine poured in that pushes out the dross. He may leave a thorn in but that’s what causes us to fellowship with Him. Get to looking at Jesus, at the Word, the treasure of His promises to you, and get your eyes off yourself. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us! Believe what you know and rejoice in what’s fully been given. In everything give thanks!
