Bible Text: Romans 4:16-21 |

Fully Persuaded                    September 2, 2018

Romans 4:16-21  Therefore it isof faith, that it might beby grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,  17.  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, evenGod, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.  18.  Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.  19.  And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:  20.  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;  21.  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

What encouragement – Abraham had faith, he was not living by what his eyes could see. None of us have faced anything more impossible than what Abraham faced. But God promised. Nothing is impossible to God. Abraham believed the word. The word of God is yea and amen. God said it and that’s that. His word is true and powerful for everything in our lives. We live in trying times. The Lord has ordered them specifically for us. We can’t please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6), so we need these trials.

Philippians 1:29  For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

It’s impossible to reign with Him without suffering, so He brings the trials. Suffering in like manner as Paul. Think it not strange, these fiery trials. Our deep trials are the proof God is working in our lives, to attain the prize of the high calling. He doesn’t want me to just wave a palm before the throne but to sit with Him in the midst of the throne. Our most precious faith is going to be challenged – but God. We would want the cup to pass but God will see us through. He is the lover of my soul! Abraham was fully persuaded = carried out to the end, full of one thought.Don’t entertain unbelief. Believe the word of God – give glory to God. Complainers and murmurers will never win God’s best. We must finish with a full joy. These trials are tailor made to make me know I need Jesus. Cease from your own works. You are fearfully and wonderfully made for Him. Nothing could make Abraham waver concerning the promises of God. Be about the one thought – I am going to marry Jesus! Abraham’s crown of rejoicing was God’s promise of a seed. Believe God and let it be counted to you for a crown of righteousness. We have a better thing. Don’t doubt Gods promisefor your life. Abraham’s promise was to be the father of many nations. Our promise is the bridal glory. Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker is God. Our call is to be that city descending having the glory of God. Let’s not stagger at our exceeding great and precious promise. Be fully persuadedto the end.Be about the one thing. We’ve been called – awaken to it!
