Bible Text: Deuteronomy 30:19-20 |

The Love of God           September 18, 2016

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

I’m so thankful by the grace of God I love Jesus! We love Him because He first loved us. We know His love, because we ventured into the depth of His heart – the Word of God, and specifically Paul’s gospel.

Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Why preach love always? So love will increase more and more for one another.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. 10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

Don’t leave your first love like Ephesus.

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

The importance of that love is:

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Preaching truth in love should be our manner of life. Abundant life begins with love. The plan of God is love. God wants every one of His children to grow up in the love of Christ.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

He is The God and He is yours! Why do we make it so hard, listen to how He loves you. We may feel overlooked, even by our own family, but God has called us to rule and reign. David was an example. You don’t find love in the bible more than in the Psalms. The Word is dear and always present with those that love Him. A child that knows they are loved will succeed. The love of God empowers us and enables us to overcome and rise up. Love causes us to fight against temptation, against the lust of the flesh.

Romans 5:5 . . . the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Galatians 5:6 . . . faith which worketh by love.

The love of God causes us to go on and not quit. David had terrible failures in his life but he took the grace and mercy of God and turned what could have been defeat into joy unspeakable and full of glory. Christ in me is the hope of glory. When love is the motivation of whatever we are called to do, it’s all pleasure. Love is life. You want abundant life, have abundant love. Do you want to obey His voice? It’s not do’s and don’ts, just love Jesus. It causes us to cleave unto Him.

Genesis 2:23-24 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Jesus wants this for His bride, that we may dwell in our promise. Our promise is not just a land, it’s a bride adorned for Him. Go in and get the best. It’s the love of God.
