Bible Text: Ephesians 2:14-18 |

One New Man                              October 16, 2016

During elections there seems to be so much emphasis on history. We are bombarded with people digging up the past, and judging others based on their past. But one event, 2,000 years ago took away my past, took my life and gave me a new one. Old things passed away and all things became new.

Ephesians 2:14-18  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;  15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;  16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  17  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

We have been made one in Christ. By His life we have access to the Father. Access is passionate favor of the Father, because you are a son of God.

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I have favor with the Father forever. It’s not my life, it’s His life.

Colossians 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

If He be for us, who can be against us? He paid the ransom, He became sin for us. Only Jesus could take that place. He brought many sons to glory. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross. The moment we believe, we are translated from death to life. In His life in me, there is no sin.

Romans 4:15  Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

We have a life that cannot commit sin.

1 John 3:9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

I am free!

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I’m brand new. Why do we hang on to things of the past that are no longer? When we look at any man long enough and close enough, it gets ugly. Romans 3:9-20 is a catalog of man apart from God.

Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

By faith, in the moment I believe, all the ugly is gone in the eyes of God. When we begin to get a vision of His mercy and grace then that life will begin to grow up into Him in all things; a mature man of God rightly dividing the truth. Knowing that I don’t need to let sin reign in my life, but when I do I can just hit my knees and let more grace come into my life. Praise Him for His grace! If we didn’t have faults and failures we wouldn’t know His grace and mercy. Jesus is our mediator, He came to save not condemn.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Out of the realm of death, into the realm of grace. The Lord is not concerned with our past. A full overcomer does not live in the past.

Philippians 3:13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

With Jesus, it’s all about now. My life and your life is about today. Who will we serve today? May we go on with Him in that mercy and grace. Will we be ready today?
