Bible Text: John 7:38 |

Be Overflowing                November 13, 2016

John 7:38  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

That truth in love would not just be received but poured forth. That our life would be fertile ground, a conduit to bring forth truth in love. Not just in word, but in deed and in truth. In the Promised Land there are two seas, the Sea of Galilee which teams with life and the Dead Sea which is so concentrated with salt that no fish or plants live there. The same Jordan River feeds them both. The Dead Sea only receives but nothing goes out whereas the Sea of Galilee both receives and gives out. The same truth we hear (Paul’s gospel) can go into a life, but how it is appropriated, what’s done with it, is the difference.

Psalms 23:5  . . . my cup runneth over.

David delighted in the truth and meditated on the Lord day and night. He was so full he couldn’t contain it. No matter what befalls us, we don’t call it strange this fiery trial that comes upon us, because of the flooding of the word of His grace. Many receive this bridal truth but some never give it out (become the Dead Sea). Some may give it out but without love it profits nothing. Our manner of life must be truth in love, flowing through our lives in demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  5  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

The Holy Ghost power is love shed abroad in my heart. Divine grace is the love of God living and alive in our lives. Not just preaching but being on fire for Paul’s gospel.

John 7:38-39  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  39  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Submit to the word of the Lord. The rivers of living water will flow. Now, not later. Don’t put it off.

Romans 15:13  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Fill means overflowing – how, by abounding in hope by the power of the Holy Ghost. Do you want to change from glory to glory? Overflowing in hope, joy and confidence? Let the Holy Ghost reign in your life. Lord, captivate my thoughts. Let this word be my first love. Make steps to more truth. God, let me be a full and overflowing vessel. Filled with all the fullness of God, filled with mercy. Lift up the hands of the weary and say look up. Your redemption draweth nigh. Our salvation is nearer than when we believed!
