Bible Text: Hebrews 11:32-34 |

Bow Down                  December 3, 2017

Hebrews 11:32-34  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:  33.  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,  34.  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

We’ve got a vocation. Called as soldiers to endure. We fight the good fight of faith.

Waxed = they existed, they performed, they finished. Is it your existence to have Him perform it?

Valiant = to stand firm, stand violent. I want to fight to win.

Matthew 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

This is a passionate fight. We lift up our hands to Him, believing Him to give us the encouragement to go on.

Turned to flight = to bow down. It’s the same word when Jesus bowed His head and gave up the ghost.

Luke 23:46  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Surrender it all; cast yourself completely into the hand of God. Are you ready to start winning? It’s time to bow down. He is on your side; the battle is already won. Have the heart of a good soldier. Whatever you do, do it heartily unto God. Forget the things behind and go on. This isn’t something we do out of duty, it’s out of love. There is victory even if you are still in the battle. You can still have an infirmity and He still delivered you. I am weak but He is strong. Glory in the infirmities. We know the calling on our lives. If you suffer with me, you will reign with me.

2Timothy 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

There is a passion and desire in believing this word. Now are we the sons of God. Grow in grace and knowledge, grow in that liberty. Our calling is to reign with Him but we will never reign with Him without the sufferings. Without His chastening there will never be a crowning for us. The dark mile is the way not by choice; we go in love. Without the dark mile the crown would never have the splendor. Be willing to be led into the valley. The fruit is in the valley, that’s where we praise Him. Without that place you will never know the comfort and power of His rod and staff. It’s where we learn it’s worth it all. The glory that shall be revealed. The eternal weight of glory. It’s not if but when. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Through every valley, He’s made a way of escape, and we will come forth more precious than gold tried in the fire. In every battle bow your head, “Into your hands Father”. Cease from your own works and enter into His rest. The power of His resurrection has already brought the victory. We are truly more than conquerors through Christ. Just like those in Hebrews 11, it’s by faith.
