Bible Text: Song of Solomon 4:16 |

Awake North Wind                 December 4, 2016

Song 4:16   Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.

What a bold statement – this is Paul saying, “Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities…” (2Cor 12:9). The necessity of the cold, north winds of life, is the only force to cause the fragrance of your life to blow out and be enjoyed by our love, Jesus! This is our love story – God’s plan for you and His Son. The Word is so descriptive of the aroma of this relationship.

Prov. 7:17  I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

Song 4:9-11   Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck. How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices! Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

This is our romantics Jesus speaking about His bride. A double portion, a sister and spouse. And a son and daughter in law to the Father. When you believe bridal truth for your life you ravish His heart. These are love letters for those that enter into what He has given. He wants the working of divine grace blooming in your life so that it becomes the sweet smelling savour to Him. The wonderful fragrance only lovers know. Scientists call it pheromones. The cold and uncomfortable north winds blow through our garden, but without this scent we wouldn’t attract Him.

2Cor. 4:8-10   We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

A miserable thing, but it’s what keeps us from being destroyed. The north wind can come in so suddenly, but the fiery trail is not strange. We know He will never leave or forsake us. Like Job whose family and wealth were taken, and Joseph who was sold into slavery – all for a double portion! Is your faith enough to see that? It is just a vapor life and God is thinking about eternity for you. He has an absolute perfect plan for you. Parents or no parents; job or no job. He is a God of perfect love, that if it was any other way you wouldn’t have known this message. Are the north winds worth it? Ruth’s husband died and she was broke, but a better thing was waiting for her. We can only go by faith. I can’t see it, but I know He has it! Always in God’s great grace He brings about His best. Live the faithfulness of God in the north wind. Lift up your hands and say thank you God for saving me, for saving my child! That’s when we know He is giving you His best. Wait and believe, don’t wait and be anxious. Enjoy the dinner for two. Soon the power of His love will be made plain.

Psalm 119:75   I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

The only way He smells those spices is from the north wind – the testing. He is smelling the aroma of Paul’s gospel in you. Let Him get a whiff and enjoy you - only a wife can do that for Him. He is ravished for you. The Holy Ghost pheromone – Christ in you the hope of glory!
