Kings Follow the Star December 10, 2017
Matthew 2:1-12 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6. And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. 7. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 9. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. 12. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
The kings have wisdom. They search out a matter. True worshippers are kings. God looks on the heart. They sought to love and worship Him. They brought Him gifts (honor). Gold = royalty; frankincense = worship, a sweet smelling sacrifice; myrrh = suffering. If you suffer with me you will reign with me. Like these kings, we remain worshipping, loving His appearing. We are born of God as kings. If we are to rule and reign we must know our birthright. That’s why there are innumerable palms, because most don’t want to know the high calling (they ignore it). He says know me. We need to grow up in it. We need to be wise unto salvation with eternal glory. The high calling of God in Christ Jesus. These kings had a vision.
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish:
Without a vision of the deeper things you will fall away. The kings kept going after the star. First love. He wants you to praise Him for His marvelous grace. They had a vision, they saw it, and moved towards it. Make steps toward more truth. They followed the star to a place where the glory was to be revealed. A star is a sun, His glory, sun glory always leads to one place – true worshippers. Draw nigh in fervent love to kiss. Us kings have seen this sun glory through the apostle Paul. He was the chosen vessel given this message. Paul’s gospel is the star we follow, it is our calling. He is going to appear to us who are loving His appearing as a Bridegroom. This is the mark for the prize. You’ve got to go now. Don’t delay. We have a better promise. This church age is the time of a bride for Jesus.
Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Glory was revealed to them, but glory is going to be revealed in us. Glorified together with Him. I’m not called to wave a palm. I’ve got a crown. You would have to put your crown down to pick up a palm. The exceeding riches of His grace will never cease. The worshippers are the lovers, not palm wavers. They take the better place. Going after the glory. Those kings searched Him out, they didn’t cease. Just like to them, Jesus is about to appear to the kings of today. Paul’s gospel is the star, the sign we’ve been given, the bridal message. By grace, let’s press on to the mark for the prize.
