Bible Text: Luke 1:39-45 |

Yes Lord                         December 11, 2016

Luke 1:39-45  And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;  40  And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.  41  And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:  42  And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.  43  And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  44  For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.  45  And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Jesus is always ready to offer not just what you need, but the much the more, the double portion! Salvation with eternal glory, and life more abundantly. In this day and age we have the much the more of Paul’s gospel. The strong meat of the Word. It’s for them who believe. Think about Ruth, she was happy to go with Naomi. She was thankful to work in the field. She found favor, Boaz’s hand in marriage. Esther believed the Lord and came before the king and asked for her people to be spared. She got the double portion, he said what’s mine is yours. These women were humble, knowing His grace was upon them. They knew they didn’t deserve it, but when offered the prize they said, “Yes Lord”. They believed what was too good to be true. The same grace that saved you is the same grace that will give the double portion. You have it all, it’s just a matter of growing up.

Galatians 4:1  Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

He wants us to grow up and take the place as joint-heir. You are meant for it. We are vessels afore prepared unto glory. Nothing is too big, or too hard for the grace of God. When the much the more came to Zacharias, he was slow to believe – he questioned. So many Christians have this same reaction. We can get so caught up in what we know, or what we’re doing, that we miss lowliness and grace. He is ready to do it, yet we waiver.

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Do you believe the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord? It may be a mountain or a lion’s den, and it causes us to waiver. We believe it’s too hard for the Lord or it’s too late. Don’t waiver at His amazing grace that will make you after His perfect will – ruling and reigning with Him for ages to come.

God didn’t give up on Zacharias.

Luke 1:63  And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

Tradition had it that his name would be Zacharias, and a priest like his dad. But Zacharias was encouraged in the Lord and said his name will be John. Then his mouth was loosed and his ceremony became praise.

We are at a crossroad today. The Holy Ghost is ready to break forth. Be ready to be full of the Holy Ghost. Don’t hold back, walk through all the land.

John = “God is the grace giver”.

1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am…

Say, “Yes Lord” to this double portion you’ve been offered!
