Bible Text: Romans 11:6 |

 Good Works                    December 17, 2017

Romans 11:6  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

That’s an unspeakable gift – the grace of God. May we get more confident in full assurance in the grace of God. Some may ask, what about “my works” in James 2:18? There’s a good work in my life as I take His grace.

James 2:18  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

We need to listen to the word of God to understand what His work is. Who gave us the works? Who performs it?

Philippians 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

The sum of every good work in your life is that He will perform it. Be still and know the word of God. You walk by faith and He brings the good works to your life. He before ordained them, He brings them, and He performs them.

Isaiah 26:12  LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

He wrought all our works in us, not just for us; and it’s not just some, it’s all.

Hebrews 4:10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

If you are not resting it’s because you are doing, trying something in your own strength.

Paul wanted to ‘do’, he was religious. But he learned it was not in him.

Romans 3:27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Not my faith but the faith of the Son of God. If He be for me, who can be against me?

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

That’s our confidence, our boasting; His life. You are what you are by the grace of God.

Ephesians 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

He made every good work in our lives. By faith we walk in them. Just believe.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

He takes all things and works them together based on His love for you. Believe in His grace and mercy. Believe in Jesus and walk.

Philippians 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

He works it, even His pleasure, and nothing else can please Him but faith. It’s already done. He made the good works, so why would we contemplate whether or not to walk in them? Christ in you, the hope of glory. That’s the life that needs to feast on truth. Before He set a star in Heaven, He saw the good works in your life. It’s all in Christ.

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

We all have something impossible in our lives. That’s the good works you should walk in. All my good works have been waiting for me from ages past. He’s the author and finisher of our faith. He made them for you, and He made you for them. And by His Spirit they are performed. Faith changes us from glory to glory!
