What are You Waiting For? December 20, 2015
Luke 2:25-30 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Simeon was waiting for the comforter of Israel – Jesus. Simeon = “hearer of God”. He was just and devout because he walked in all the truth that was given to him. When we hear the word of God we are hearing His promises to us. God gives us the Holy Ghost – we need that power.
Simeon got a double portion, not only to see, but hold his salvation. The Saviour coming was a deep truth for this this time.
Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive,
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Many knew God and were religious but what were they hearing? What you hear determines what you are waiting for. In this time the deep truth is He will come with a shout and those that remain will be caught up with Him in the air (1Thes 4:16-17). Simeon kept hearing the promise and chose to keep believing no matter how long it took or what others were saying. When our choice is God, He will send His anointing power to perform it. God did the same for Moses when he said, “I want to see your glory”, and Moses got to see God’s glory. There were others too in Hebrews 11, but we have a better promise. He tells us we can see His glory, but we can also be His glory! (Rev. 21:11) What I am waiting for depends entirely upon what I am hearing. If you are not feeding on the mystery of Christ and His bride you are not going to be waiting for that.
Revelation 3:8-13 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. 9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
This company will be kept from the tribulation. Suffering together with Him, being made ready. They have crowns. Hold it fast, it is ours now. New Jerusalem = the bride (Rev. 21:9-10). What the Spirit is saying to the church is like what He said to Simeon. We can see Jesus before death. We have been hearing this, it is the complete expectation of our lives. What are you looking for today? The first trump is coming. Simeon saw a baby but when we see Him, we will be like Him (1John 3:2). A perfect and complete mate for Jesus. What are you waiting for? Nothing could compare. Let me be waiting for the only thing worth waiting for!
