What Will We Meet Him With?        December 27, 2015

Matthew 2:1-11 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him… 7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Worshippers don’t stay far off, they draw nigh. What will we meet Him with?
Wise men = “a special vision”. East = “a place of the sun and stars”. They were ones with the vision of the sun and stars.
1 Corinthians 15:41-42 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
1 Corinthians 15:22-23 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order (rank): Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
This speaks of the resurrection. The moon is a reflected light but the sun is illuminated from within. How much of His glory and truth will we allow in our lives? He wants us to grow from glory to glory into His very image. The wise men had that vision in type and were drawn to the star. When we see the gospel of glory, that Jesus is looking for a bride, and that bride is you, it becomes your everything.
Matthew 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
When they saw the star they were not just happy, but had exceeding great joy. Great = “a rank, a weight, a maturity of joy”. Finish your course with a full joy.
These wise men being from the east (sun glory), aren’t a reflected light, the exceeding great joy is the exalted rank (a maturity of joy), they are a type of the bride.
Revelation 21:9-11 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
She is like Him, she’s taken all grace. These wise men were drawn by love. Worship = “draw nigh in fervent love to kiss”. The worship of lovers, suffering together, knowing it is working for your good. This is your proposal and when it becomes your own, you worship.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
The four living ones in Revelation 4 are the only company seen in the throne with Jesus and they are seen worshipping throughout the book. Simeon and Anna praised Him for salvation, but the wise men were sun glory worshippers. They didn’t see a child, they saw more. They saw glory. When you see Him that way you bring perfect worship. They brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold = “rule and reign”. Frankincense, and myrrh = “suffer together”.
Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Is this what my life is bringing to Him? Will I meet Him with this full glory reigning? Will my life bring Him gold, silver and precious stones? Will I bring Him the fullness of Christ in me? What will I bring Him who has brought all this to me?
