Decisions January 17, 2016
James 3:13-18 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Last week we talked about entrusting God and resting in Him and resting in the fact that He’s got it. Here is more evidence of what it is to entrust our life to the Lord. We need this so much because we all face manifold temptations and trials.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
We want to follow God’s decisions, but we don’t always. We can have our own way but God will send leanness to your soul. God gives us proof in His word where our heart really is. Are we entangled with the world or set on things above. If we are making decisions out of self-ambition, to satisfy feelings, or because we are bitter; God is not in that. It is not spiritual, it’s demonic; you are in confusion. Our enemy is out to steal, kill, and destroy and he attacks in our emotions and feelings.
To whom much is given, much is required. You have been given Paul’s gospel. Hold that crown you have and if by any means attain! He gives you the plan, purpose, and the power to perform it. You lack nothing in God. Decisions you make affect other people. Every child of God is either a leader or a defeater. We are living in the time that the trump is going to sound. Be still and know He is God. This world pulls us apart. Be a leader, one that just loves the Lord; that encourages people on in the things of God. Every life has issues. You are in a place where you hear the only thing that will heal you – the truth. We have the whole armor of God. But if we don’t hear the truth we’re blinded to that provision. The wisdom from above is pure – it’s the wisdom of God.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
It’s not my will, my principles, my heart, my experience, or all my knowhow. It’s the good fruit of righteousness. It’s the mind of Christ. Decisions from above will always be steps toward the truth, toward the whole counsel of God. It is ‘like precious faith’ fellowship. Follow Paul as he followed Christ!
