God Chose Us in Christ February 1, 2015
Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the
good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us
accepted in the beloved.
God has chosen us in Him! Grace and truth has found us. We weren’t looking for Him at all. Romans
9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have
attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
Grace found us and gave us the faith to attain righteousness, chosen in Christ. We were not only
not looking for Him, but we were dead in trespasses and sins – But God! There is nothing hard for
God. God in His great love for us, quickened us together with His Son.
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and
bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in
my name, he may give it you.
Not only chosen but anointed. The fruit is the before ordained good works of God. We are His
workmanship. Be still – then He gives the increase. We are lumps of clay. Get rid of our thoughts
and ways.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me
void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent
it.
He has sent His word to you and it will prosper in the thing He sent it to. Divine purpose. It
changes us from glory to glory. The measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ in us. How far
will you believe Him in His choosing?
Abram was called out of an idol shop and he went. What matters is His calling and our listening.
It’s not going to be the way we would take. God will bring us down many paths and it will be His
choice. He chose us for His highest glory. Exceeding great and precious promises. A better thing
– we must embrace it. He chose you! A divine appointment. Don’t question, wonder or doubt – just
go. We don’t know where we are going but we know by Paul’s gospel where it ends up – in the midst
of the throne with Jesus!
1 Thessalonians 1:4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
Know your election. He picked you out before a star was in heaven. This choosing is there for every
man, all we have to do is receive the grace. By grace through faith puts you right in the election
of God. It’s the life of Christ that was chosen in ages past. His life in you is what God sees. It
can never be separated from the love and favor of God. Christ in you is the hope of glory. We don’t
need to feel special because we couldn’t be any more special with the life we now live by faith in
the Son of God. We are all His favorites because we all have but one life and
His Son is His favorite.
