Bible Text: Deuteronomy 7:6-8... |

Our Promise                      April 14, 2019

Deuteronomy 7:6-8a  For thou artan holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that areupon the face of the earth.  7  The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye werethe fewest of all people:  8  But because the LORD loved you,

He chose you because He loves you; it’s personal.

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God chose you the same way as Israel, not your ability, intellect or personality – love. He had to love us because God is love. The disciples all had different personalities, Jesus had to deal differently with each of them, but they were called to the same calling – to inherit the promise to which they were called. Those in Hebrews eleven were all so different but each one was called and each one was chosen. They all obtained the promise the same way – by faith. God loved them. God loves you and you’ve got a promise; the greatest promise that was ever given. We are all different, we have personalities all over the charts, but only one thing matters; we are called, chosen, and loved to win Paul’s gospel crown.

Of the millions that came out of Egypt, only two went into the promised land of Canaan, Joshua and Caleb. They were told they were fools and too weak. This is our life – the good fight of faith. Naturally we’re done, but spiritually we are ready to walk in. Feast on this truth. Be encouraged, we are abiding in the greatest promise ever given – a wife for Jesus!

Ephesians 4:7  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

It’s infinite, all supplying grace, to every one of us. God wants us to grow up fully and inherit what He gave us through His Son. We’ve been given the revelation of our calling just like Abraham. He didn’t stagger at the promise. He abided believing the Lord for the promise that was made.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to hispurpose.

You have a purpose – to win Him. The only requirement is faith. He chose you because He loves you.

Romans 8:29-30  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to beconformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Glorified means clothed with splendor. That’s what the love of God does. Jesus went to the cross for the joy set before Him – the pearl of great price. Nothing was stopping Him. He embraced being made sin for us because He is so passionate and loving. He paid the ransom for your soul and the dowry for His wife.

John 15:12  This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Love one another in spite of all our personalities.

1 John 4:20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen.

This is the cut. You cannot love bridal truth without loving the body. If you don’t have that love, you’ve chosen to wave a palm. It doesn’t matter what you know. Everything we’ve been promised is made vain if we don’t love, and go hear the Word. This meeting is about Paul’s gospel; the message of the bride of Christ and being ready in love for it. There is an abiding, settling in – love. Dwelling together with ones in love with Jesus. If you have the opportunity to attend and don’t – Jesus is not your first love. He is exhorting us to wake up. He chose you because He loved you. The chosen are they who love one another. Our promise is alive and real. Make the move to abide in His promise because He loves you!
