Virtuous Women          May 8, 2016

We are thankful for the virtuous moms in the Word of God.
Jocebed – Moses’ mom put him in the ark (the Word), into a river full of snakes and crocodiles. Just like us today, sending our children into the schools, knowing they are safe in His word.
Rebekah – wanted the best for her son Jacob and even went against her husband.
Hannah – Trusted the Lord and gave her son Samuel to Eli, and what a prophet he became.
Bathsehba – What horrible circumstances, yet God brought her forth for a purpose. David was going to allow the throne to go to his oldest son, but Bathsheba told him no, because he promised it to Solomon.
These virtuous women loved their children to the uttermost, not just because they gave them the word of God, but because they gave them God’s best of the word of God.
Train them up in the way of the little lord of all (Galatians 4:1). Train them up in Paul’s gospel, and when they are old they won’t depart. They entrusted their children to God’s best in the word because they gave their life to it also, the height of what God had to offer.
Proverbs 31:10-11 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She is so beyond ravishing to him that he says I don’t need anything but you. Can you get how much Jesus wants to rest in you?
Proverbs 31:15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She rises up even in the trials, she doesn’t fear or complain. She gets the meat for her household, praying, spending time with God. Are we breaking out the word of God in our home?
Don’t compromise – strong meat and nothing less.
Proverbs 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Scarlet speaks of the blood. Don’t think it strange, the fiery trials. She is not afraid, she is confident in the blood of Jesus that covers her home. She doesn’t look at the circumstances, she sees the mercy of the Lord. She lets His grace rock her to sleep knowing her Husband has it all.
Proverbs 31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
He encourages us in His great love. When we look to Him there is no idle time (no time for ‘pity me’). Feed on the strong meat – Paul’s gospel.
Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Call those wonderful mothers of grace blessed. Happy in the Lord. We thank God for them.
Proverbs 31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
There is a rib portion coming out of this body. This is His plan. It is not good that the man be alone, Jesus will have a wife. God gets a double portion – a son and a daughter-in-law. Commend moms who are entrusting their children in the whole counsel of God. Train them up in the high calling truth. Then you are like Bathsheba, the King promised the throne for my son. The good work He promised He will perform (Philippians 1:6). He will do it!
