Bible Text: Ephesians 3:3-21 |

Know the Love of Christ          May 22, 2016

Ephesians 3:13-21 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. 14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Paul prayed for all to desire the high calling of Christ Jesus for their life and the whole body of Christ. Dwell = “settle down in marriage”. We need to know that it is Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think. To know the love of Christ – it has to be Him. God is love. To be filled with all the fullness of God you must know the love of Christ. The word ‘know’ means more than to perceive, it has the most intimate meaning. It means sexual intercourse between a husband and wife. Paul is not beating around the bush, we must get to the height of it all – our life is a vapor and Jesus is coming soon. Do we really know, believe, rejoice in knowing the intimacy of the love of God like this? He wants us to enter into this, and as humans we can understand as we have this type naturally. If you really rejoice in the depths of the bridal message, your natural marriage will be the most glorious thing. Do you know how beautiful you are to the Lord? As you feed on this message He is ravished for you. Take steps toward the truth. Go after God and yield to Him, the after effects will be the perfect and complete will of God, and you will be ready. He will have you doing exactly what He wants you to be occupied in. Paul’s gospel has been preached to every creature which is under heaven. (Col. 1:23). Put things in perspective, you are seated in the heavens in Christ (Eph. 2:6). He is writing to fully purposed ones and telling them to know the love of Christ. Occupy in it, and stay with the stuff if you want to rule and reign with Him. Don’t forget what it’s all about – the love of God. Knowledge puffs up but love edifies. Old things are passed away and all things are become new. Paul prayed we would know the love of Christ. This is God’s plan from before the foundation of the world.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Worship = “draw nigh in fervent love, to kiss”. The Father is making sure this is the perfect one for His Son. The bride completes Him and glorifies Him alone. It is not the sincere worker or servant, but the sincere worshipper. The importance of knowing this love is so that we can love Him as He loves us. The Holy Ghost sheds the love of God abroad in our hearts. You will not fall in love with Jesus until you know Him in the scriptures. He set this up in type, natural marriage, so we can see the truth, the simplicity in Christ. Jesus longs to be loved by a wife. If it was only salvation it would be done, but there is the much more. The only requirement is to sit and listen to the proposal and to say “I will go”. There must be knowledge and then there is the capacity to fall in love. Sometimes we get more caught up in the bride than the Bridegroom. It’s all about His grace. The sincere worshiper is not concerned about what everyone else is doing. It’s all about Him.
Song of Solomon 7:10 I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.
She says, “I am all His and only His. His desire, love, passion and ravished heart is toward me”!
So thankful for the great love wherewith we are loved!
