Truth August 7, 2016
Ephesians 4:21 . . . the truth is in Jesus:
Psalms 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Psalms 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me:
David, John, and Paul all wrote of truth. The gospel of John can be summarized as “an introduction to the truth”. The word ‘truth’ most often points to Jesus.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Luke 9:27-35 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. . . . 30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: . . . 35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
Moses represents the law and Elijah represents the prophets. These were forerunners who pointed to Jesus. God said, Hear Him! Moses knew truth and he spoke of it in the song of Moses.
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Elijah had raised the widow’s son from the dead.
1 Kings 17:24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The disciples learned truth. John paid close attention to the words of Jesus, he heeded “Hear Him”.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
Jesus shared facts about the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth;
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth;
John 16:12-13 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
Jesus’ prayer of intercession.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Jesus before Pilate.
John 18:37-38 Jesus answered, . . . To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?
To the apostle Paul was revealed deeper truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (All scripture).
Ephesians 3:3-6 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
All believers will not be joint-heirs.
Fellowheir = “joint-heir as husband and wife”. This can only be revealed by the Holy Ghost.
Revelation 4:6-7 . . . and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
The four living creatures are types like Jesus – full of grace and truth. The church of Philadelphia.
Revelation 3:8,10 . . . thou hast kept my word, . . . thou hast kept the word of my patience,
They kept the word of truth and let the Holy Ghost be their guide. They studied it like Timothy, rightly dividing.
Revelation 19:7 . . . the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Be assured the Lamb’s wife will know the who, what, where, when and why of truth.
