Bible Text: Hebrews 12:15 |

Great Gain                           September 8, 2019

Hebrews 12:15  Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you,and thereby many be defiled;

Sometimes we don’t realize the fallout the enemy can bring through bitterness. Bitterness doesn’t just affect you, it affects many others as well. It defiles = corrupts, pollutes; it is a poison.

Diligently = beware; to be in tune with sincerity with what is going on in your life.

Bitterness is deadly because it causes us to fail of the grace of God.

Fail = to fall behind and become inferior in the rank of grace. If you allow grace to really work and remove bitterness, the rank will be first love. When we fall behind there is trouble. Trouble = it corrupts faith. Bitterness blocks out the perfect love of Christ because grace is refused.

We want to be mature – the love of Jesus perfected in us. To have others apprehend more faith. Bitterness turns ones away. It’s not worth it to not hear the truth because of something someone said or did. Love the truth – love grace. You are going to be tested in your faith, but it comes down to one thing – do you love Jesus? People aren’t perfect. Just because someone says something wrong to you that is a Christian, don’t hold that against the word of God. There were some in the word of God that were treated horribly, yet they became heroes of faith. God allows these things so we draw nigh unto Him. He wants to work perfection in you. Jesus is coming and we don’t want to be harboring any bitterness. The loss would be too great. He could come today and a root of bitterness corrupts faith to be ready. Only love will do it. Perfected love in the saints of the Most High. When we are in first love with Him it should be our greatest desire to encourage others. There is another cure for this poison:

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to hispurpose.

If we’ve laid a hold of this grace we are of ‘them who are called’, and then we have a promise: all things work together for good. The evidence is gain, riches, and blessed beyond; after a hurtful experience. If you are hearing all truth then you have great gain. Without “that thing” you went through, you would never have the abundance. Instead of looking back at an event or a person, seeing them in a negative way; see what blessings were brought to your life. Manifold blessings. He’s given us everything - salvation with eternal glory. Get out of man’s thinking because you’ll be bitter and miss it. Instead of looking back, praise Him for the blessings. Think of where you are today. Living in the ruling and reigning gospel!
