Bible Text: Psalms 139:1-4 |

God Knoweth   October 5, 2014
Psalms 139:1-4 A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
God made us and He knows us. Look at all the things that He knows. He knows it all. Hopefully this isn’t something that makes us uncomfortable, but something wonderful that He knows us better than we know ourselves. It’s intimate. Sometimes we can’t express ourselves but God knows our thoughts. David was a man after God’s own heart and if we aspire to be full overcomers, we want God to search us.
Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
We want Him to make sure nothing is holding us back from having His best.
Matthew 6:7-8 . . .your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
He knows what we need. There are times when we are pushed to the limit. Have you ever said, “Lord, I don’t need this right now”? But when we are weak then we are strong (2 Cor. 12:10).
Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 . . . for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Life is not about making a living. We are to work and provide but we are to put the Lord first.
Have a willing heart, be thirsty. As we put Him first He will take care of it.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
He knows what each one of His sheep needs. The One who knows me best loves me most!
We don’t always know what is going on or what to do. But God does, and like Jehoshaphat, when a great multitude came against Israel, we should set our eyes on God. The battle is not yours, its Gods.
2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God . . . we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
There are some things we shall know.
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus . . . If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Continue in His word then we’ll know the truth and be made free from sin, guilt and self.
John 13:7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
We may not know what the Lord is doing right now but we will know after, and that it was for our good.
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
It is a sure thing as children of God that we will see Him face to face! We’ll know Him the way He knows us! We don’t need to know about everything we see going on around us, they are only temporal. We need to know that which is eternal. We don’t need to know why it is happening, just know it is working for our good. In all the intricacies of many lives.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
There are some things we definitely know. By faith. Job had extreme trials and three miserable comforters, but he knew God was behind it all.
Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Our trials are more precious than gold. God knows us and we can know Him like that.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth,
What a hope we have! I know whom (not just what) I have believed!
2 Timothy 1:12 . . . for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
God is in control, He loves you and knows exactly what is needed in your life to have His best. Know Jesus!
