Bible Text: I Samuel 18:3 |

Loving Souls                         January 15, 2017

1 Samuel 18:3  Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

Covenant = “to walk together in the precepts of the gospel”. When we Christians are in complete harmony with God and His word we love one another as our own soul. Enter into this fellowship, there is no greater love than loving souls. God loves souls.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God wants us to grow up to be fully mature, all pleasing sons of God. Loving souls is beautiful, it’s victory all the time because nothing can stand against God’s love. It loves beyond circumstance (heritage, politics, situations, hurtful events). To love a soul is God’s love – I can’t do it. The soul love of brethren, is loving as your very own soul.

1 Thessalonians 3:12  And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

This is loving souls to have God’s best. Be a joint that supplies the body to encourage ones to run the race. Faith works by love. Edifying, spiritual encouragement.

This is a passionate, in love that comes by hearing the love letters, His Word.

The Holy Ghost sheds that love abroad in our hearts.

1 Thessalonians 3:13  To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

This is the love that surpasses everything; loves outside my boundaries. When you are truly in love you want everybody to hear the truth. This love is not hypocritical, not limited, not too busy. Are we spiritual? This love encourages. God is no respecter of persons. He that wills to know the truth, will know. Get where you hear the truth, the Lord will be there. Pray for one another to stay with the stuff.

1 Peter 2:17  Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Do we honor one another? This is God’s family; tightly fit, in unity. You are seated in the heavens in Christ – that is where our fellowship is.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13  And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;  13  And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Hebrews 13:7  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Honor the Lord by appreciating brethren; the ones that have received the gifts for the church, and our elders. Appreciate the place He has placed us in this body. Don’t be critical, edify one another. Go with God’s word. We are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Love one another. Perfect love is complete, full, and it’s the mark for the prize. Avail yourself more for the Lord, letting the love of God flow out more and more. The lovers fully overcome. Bitterness always comes up short. Dwell together (settle down in marriage) and appreciate one another. Walk together in all precepts of the gospel!
