Bible Text: Ephesians 3:14-21 |

Be the Glory in the Church               March 5, 2017

Ephesians 3:14-21  For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  15.  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,  16.  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;  17.  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  18.  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  19.  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  20.  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  21.  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

May we be unto Him glory in the church. Think how in love He is with us.

Revelation 17:14  . . . they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Chosen = “the best of its kind” for Jesus.

Proverbs 31:29  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Esther 2:17  And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

She was loved more because she took more grace. The crown was set upon her head.

Like to the church in Philadelphia:

Revelation 3:11  . . . hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Song of Solomon 6:9  My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her.

Song of Solomon 4:9  Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse;

The daughters of Jerusalem did not see the value of His love. By believing the whole counsel of God she matured from a sister to a spouse. We never will fall in love with Him until we see how much He loves us. How much He wants us to have in Him. To be to the praise of the glory of His grace. It’s by grace through faith. We get settled down, but He says, “there is more”. Be the glory in the church. Glory = “most excellent state”, “the best of its kind”.  She is the glory in the city. The Lamb’s wife.

Revelation 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:11  Having the glory of God:

She took the place He desired her to have, glorified with Him glory.

Ephesians 5:27  That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

We live in a day of “participation trophy time”. The bible says win! Who will win? The violent take it by force, they run well.

Matthew 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

You are called and chosen. Say, “Lord, I believe” and take it for yourself. Be thankful, rejoicing. This isn’t participation time, it’s winning time. We have no excuse.  He has given us all ability, all faith to trust Him, and He’ll do all the work because of His grace. He has given us all grace, nothing withheld.

Genesis 41:52  And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

God had to take Joseph to the land of affliction before he could receive. Joseph didn’t quit trusting God, He knew God was for him.

Genesis 50:20  . . . ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good,

Embrace these opportunities that are beyond ourselves. Christ in me the hope of glory overcomes. When we murmur we walk around the promise and miss it. By the grace of God don’t let self-pity defeat you. Don’t just eek by, super abound. Have all faith in believing, in every moment and in everything. His purpose, plan, passion and power will do it, all we have to do is believe. It comes with patience and longsuffering and great affliction. The full overcomer will take grace in all these things. It’s not discipline, its devotion to Him. What changes us from glory to glory? True love. When I see that I’m “that one’ to Him, He will be ‘that one’ to me. That we be the glory in the church unto Him. There is nothing else you’ve been called to. Take all the grace and favor. That love excellest all.
