Bible Text: I Peter 1:6-7 |

The Reoccurring Trial                   August 4, 2019

1 Peter 1:6-7  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:  7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

I want to be that glory for Him. The bride descending from heaven having the glory of God. Not just through a trial but a reoccurring trial. The trial God puts over and over in our lives. Peter is an example of this. God allowed him to fail in his own steadfastness until he finally got it. The trial He sends over and over takes us from glory to glory. He must increase, I must decrease. Often He brings the reoccurring trial when we won’t let go of something of this life. Our citizenship is in heaven. In His faithfulness He afflicts us. It can be in relationships or sometimes through work. Don’t fall into the trap that you’ve got to have what you want. Jacob wrestled with God. Get to the place, “Lord have your way, you choose”. His way is best. Joseph was made a slave and a prisoner several times, then God made him ruler over all. When you think God is taking something away, He is giving you more. God says, “If you wait on Me, I’ll give you the best”.

1 Peter 5:1  The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

1 Peter 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

He makes you complete, constant and strong; He establishes you. There is a purpose for your suffering.

James 1:12  Blessedisthe man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Revelation 2:10  Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall castsomeof you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Be full of faith in His love and He will give you a crown.

2 Corinthians 4:17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding andeternal weight of glory;

That is the exceeding great reward. God is not giving you something that will defeat you. He loves you. He wants a windfall return of His inheritance in you. He withholds nothing good from you. The trials are for our good, and He may give you a trial over and over. Abraham was given promises but he was always in the presence of doubters. It’s alone with Him that the exceeding riches are made real in your life.  Paul went through beatings three times, shipwreck twice, forty stripes save one five times. Yet Paul said it was a light affliction but for a moment when compared to glory. God does not bring us to this place to destroy us but to make us rich. It’s a place where only the masterpiece can be built in you. When you are in it, don’t miss the best part. Be still and take the training. Count it all joy. In due time you will be exalted. He will make known to all that He has loved you. If you suffer with Him, you will reign with Him. Even if it is five times over – it is well by the grace of God.
