Bible Text: Matthew 22:2 |

The Father’s Joy                         September 9, 2018

Matthew 22:2  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

Our Father and all of creation is waiting to see the moment His Son will take His bride.

Genesis 2 is a picture of the Father bringing a wife to His Son. He brought Eve to Adam and in Revelation 19 He brought a wife to the last Adam, His Son Jesus. And all between is about a wedding, the readying of a wife for Jesus.

The Father’s heart felt calling to us is to be the true worshippers. He wants His Son magnified.

John 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

In Genesis 24 Rebekah said, “I will go”. Lord, help us not to miss it; but by any means attain to that first trump rapture in the air, when the bride and Bridegroom are joined!

There are many things in a natural wedding that are types of thewedding:

  1. The joy the Father will have to see His Son take His wife. God will have a daughter.

Psalms 45:13  The king's daughterisall glorious within: her clothing isof wrought gold.

First love. What Jesus will do for His wife, make known He loves her.

Revelation 3:9  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

For that moment to be true for you, you must receive first love now. The wife has made herself ready. She believed in His love and prepared everything because she knew. Why doubt that love for you? He has told you He wants to marry you.

  1. Happy wedding guests.

John 3:29  He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

They rejoiced because the Bridegroom has his wife.

  1. She was presented as his wife.

She came down the steps and all they could see was the bride.

Revelation 21:10-11And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

  1. The feast, dancing, and joy abounding.

Joy unspeakable!

Jeremiah 31:13  Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Our wedding day is near. The joy of all ages to come.

Revelation 19:7  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

He that shall come will come.Oh, what it will be to be there!
