Bible Text: John 7:23-14 |

Judge Righteously                        January 27, 2019

John 7:23-24  If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? 24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

They cried out, “Jesus, you broke the law” but love triumphed that day. Judging righteously is love. Jesus is the righteous judge. God is love.

Romans 3:21-22  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;  22  Even the righteousness of God which isby faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Romans 4:6-8  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,  7  Saying,Blessed arethey whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.  8  Blessed isthe man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

The triumphant conclusion: Paul’s heart; you are partakers of my grace (Phil. 1:7). It’s the heart of faith that God looks on and rejoices in.

Philippians 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

The enemy would encourage you to try to keep the law but you can’t. He is our peace; why would try to make peace when He is it?

Ephesians 2:13-15  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, eventhe law of commandments containedin ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, somaking peace;

His life in us and us in Christ. Where there is no law, there is no sin. Whom He has made free is free indeed. Some would put fear of condemnation on others but there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1). Many Christians move in judgement because the law says. But those that speak that, have removed themselves so far from the love of God they can’t even smell their filthiness. Now are we the sons of God. Christ in you, the hope of glory. Don’t be one of those who hold the law over someone else for their own selfish desire. Righteous judgement stands in the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:21  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comeby the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The enemy just wants us to creep back to our self-righteousness because it doesn’t give praise to the blood of the Lamb. Righteousness never comes by the law. It’s faith.

Romans 4:5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

You don’t need to get right for righteousness. He’s made you the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Settle down and take that, and thank Him. We were made the only thing that God loves – Jesus’ life that lives in us. You are free. When you put someone in condemnation, you are not merciful. We are vessels of mercy. When God brings you to the deep things, go – don’t stop. Don’t get entangled, fight harder. Just stand and be confident in Him, holding your crown. God gives you (Philadelphia saints) a little strength. That love makes me strong in faith. Those that lash out at others lack love. If that’s you, stop. It’s wickedness. Why would you allow self-righteousness to ruin your life? It will just make you more cold and bitter, and you’ll drift from the truth. Jesus so loved, He healed, He forgave.

James 2:13  . . . mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

Zechariah 7:9  Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

Show mercy and compassion. Christ is the end of the law to everyone that believes (Rom. 10:4). Let’s live abundantly in it.
