Love Edifies July 31, 2016
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Spiritually encouraging one another in the love of God.
Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
There is nothing more inspiring or powerful as the love of God. Paul was an anointed vessel because of the love of Christ; it not only flowed into his life, it flowed out. Paul did exhort and even rebuke, but it was his words of love that are the biggest gains to cause us to be fully purposed in Christ.
Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
We need to look for and compliment the love of God in one another. Thank the Lord for Christ in others. Be like Paul, his letters encouraged.
Philippians 1:4-6 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
It’s the grace of God with me that can encourage anyone. God is faithful even when we are not.
Colossians 1:3-4 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
What an apple of gold – Paul is receiving the joy of the Lord.
2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
Paul was encouraged by the saints receiving the word of God’s grace. The abundance of the love of God is sometimes missing in those who know a lot of truth. Help us to not lack the Spirit’s power of love. Let people know you love them. They knew they were Christians by their love for one another. Love edifies, it is the testimony of the word of God alive and working in us. Settle down in the Lord, grow up into Him.
We encourage and edify one another by giving them the word of God. Why don’t people want the love of God? Because they want it on their terms. God said it’s all going to be in my Son.
Grow more and more in the love of Christ. Looking for opportunities, not to correct but with grace in our lips and mercy in our hearts and the joy of the Holy Ghost that’s working in people.
The love of the saints in the body of Christ is all supplied by the Head but all the joints supply. We need to appreciate the love in the saints.
