Bible Text: Acts 13:36-37 |

A Profound Life   May 24, 2015

Acts 13:36-37 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: 37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
Nothing will keep this body down. Several loved ones have gone home recently – they served their generation. Many comments about the memorial said it was profound. Profound means intense, sincere, overwhelming. This is what a life that lives by the will of God does to their own generation. Brother McLamb and Andrew weren’t famous, or rich, nor loud or vocal – actually the opposite. Profound is something man cannot produce. It comes out of something completely unexpected. It’s supernatural, it had to be God.
Solomon had a chance to be profound but ‘vanities of vanities’, he wasted it. But his father, David was profound. From shepherd to king. He failed miserably yet he was the man after God’s own heart.
Every overcomer is profound. Faith makes your life profound. It makes us men and women we could never be; and makes us reign when it all looks like a loss.
Enoch pleased God by faith.
Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
God is everything I need. Grow in grace. Even though you are a child of the king, if you don’t grow up, you’ll be nothing more than a servant. So many are living far below what God wants for their life. You are an heir of God.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
There is a difference between those in the midst of the throne and those standing waving a palm.
Don’t worry about the other guy, go on to the high calling.
Hebrews 11:7-8 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Noah and Abraham went by faith too. These are profound lives, yet just average people; tax collectors, harlots, etc. Profound because of faith. Faith is always there for you but without believing you won’t have it. Like the Promised Land, only a step away but you have to take the step.
Do you know your vocation? The high calling of God in Christ Jesus. When He is first in your life, everything else will fall into place. The life of Christ lives in you. Your life is invaluable to God, to the body of Christ, and especially to your own generation. Do you realize what you have? The gospel of the Apostle Paul. Your life will never sit right until you yield to God. If you want your life to have the fullest meaning, keep the faith. Never stop learning. The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Every life has ups and downs. Just by living faith – not your will – believing God that He gave you the right set of circumstances - that’s profound. Fight the good fight of faith. The world can’t see it but you have it. Don’t compromise, live by faith. Encourage others to win Christ. Don’t be ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Wear the engagement ring gladly and walk by faith!
